Most marble has veining mineral deposits throughout. It is generally thought to be from Italy, but is also quarried in Canada, Germany, Spain, the U.S., and other countries worldwide.  Tumbled marble has become extremely popular in the United States in the last few years for backsplash, flooring and shower areas.  Most people are familiar with marble. Floor to Ceiling Beauty

Because of its beauty and elegance, marble is a popular choice for countertops, floors, foyers, fireplace facings and hearths, walls, and windowsills.  Marble adds a sophisticated element to the area in which it is installed. Its naturally random appearance, engineering characteristics, and ease of maintenance makes it a premium choice for floors, wall claddings, table tops, wainscot, floors, and vanity tops. Many marbles are well suited for wet area application, which extends the versatility of this material to include tub decks and showers.  Marble is relatively hard, but not as hard as granite.  It is very popular for fireplaces, bar-tops, and bathrooms, and comes in a wide range of colors. Marble has the same general properties of limestone and can stain, etch or scratch, but only becomes more beautiful over time and use. Polished marble can be slippery to walk on until a patina has built up on its surface.
