Locarni Marble Company Locarni Marble Co. was founded in 1923 as the Arnosti Marble Company at its present location on Civil War Road in Carthage, MO. A.D. Locarni joined the company several years later, becoming manager in 1926. Along with an outside investor, Kent Steadley, he took full control in 1931 and operated the company until it was liquidated in 1943 due to World War II. He and Steadley reopened and incorporated as Locarni Marble Co. in 1946. The Company is a manufacturer of finished marble and granite used for commercial buildings and residences for interior and exterior applications nationwide. Fabrication included gang sawing of blocks and shaping and polishing slabs of marble and granite to custom sizes. Most gang sawing was for blocks from domestic quarries. Today, most of the stone is purchased in slab form and imported from Canada, Italy, Spain, Brazil and other foreign sources. The fabrication team works with property owners and contractors to define custom surfaces and specific design work for all needs. While countertops and vanities make up the majority of residential projects, other Locarni products destined for the home include “easy clean” bathtub surrounds and showers, showpiece fireplace mantles and surrounds, exotic tile work, and exquisite molding. Businesses and institutions often use our surfaces for executive desktops and bookcases, floor and wall treatments including wainscoting, and exterior work which includes travertine entryways and custom business marquees in conjunction with our partners at West Chestnut Memorial. Locarni also supplies stone used at many Midwestern cemeteries in memorial plaques and mausoleums. No size project is too big or too small for the team at Locarni. A majority of sales go to marble and tile dealers as well as contractors here in the Midwest, but sales also include customers nationwide with specific projects. Most of our customers know us by reputation and have dealt with us for many years; however, we are always looking for a new opportunity to engage customers in different areas as a result of the rising popularity of marble and granite for the home. From sales to customer service, and fabrication to installation, Locarni Marble is ready to tackle any project. Locarni’s recent projects include local sites such as Downstream Casino’s guest rooms. In conjunction with our partners at Carthage Marble Company, Locarni Marble Co.’s quality can be seen in renovations at the Kansas State Capitol, the Nelson Atkins Museum, and in Kansas City at the Federal Reserve Building and the new Brazilian fine dining concept, Fogo de Chao. In late 2005, Locarni Marble Co. was purchased by GCC, LLC, a partnership of George “Pat” Goff and Patrick and Richard Campbell. The new owners are Carthage residents who are proud to continue producing a high quality product for their local clients with time-honored craftsmanship in their shop. Within the company’s fabrication plant lie over 100 years of experience, talent, and inventiveness.
